Is chartering a private jet more cost effective that flying commercial?
Well, it depends on the parameters of your trip. On certain flights you can utilize the aircraft with maximum occupancy and then the price per seat would work out to be comparable to a first class ticket. 80% of the time this wouldn’t be the case. However, if you factor in the intangibles (i.e. travel time, time spent on layovers/terminals and loss of productivity) the private jet option makes more sense.
How is ACP Jets different from fractional aircraft ownership such as NetJets or Flight Options?
With NetJets or other fractional ownership companies you have to purchase a portion of the plane in 1/16th or greater increments. You are then charged a monthly management fee to manage your portion of the aircraft whether you use the aircraft or not. Aside from the recurring fees you also get charged the hourly direct costs of the aircraft for the hours you use and you are committed to a 5 year ownership contract. ACP Jets does not charge acquisition costs, monthly management fees or exit penalties. You simply pay for the time you use the aircraft.
Since ACP Jets doesn't predominately operate its own aircraft. What is the benefit of chartering through ACP as opposed to the actual operator?
Unless you are departing and returning to the exact airport where the operator is based, you would be paying repositioning fees. Also if your flight is under minimums the operator will charge you a round trip or the full minimums. ACP Jets can launch an aircraft with less repositioning as well as provide the perfect aircraft for your mission as opposed to limiting your choice to one aircraft. If you are flying one-way, we can match you with an aircraft that is moving in the same direction at half the cost of a traditional operator. The other benefit is that you have the same consistently high service no matter where you are in the world. You can make one phone call and your private aircraft will be arranged in the same manner that you are accustomed to.
How do we guarantee the safety of the aircraft?
There are two third party aviation auditing methods that we use to audit the safety of our carriers operations, ARG/US and Wyvern consulting. On top of these auditing systems we also have more stringent internal requirements that our carriers have to meet. Learn more about our exact standards on our safety page.
What are one-ways and how do they work?
One-ways exist under two circumstances. The first circumstance is an aircraft repositioning empty in a certain direction and the second would be the of match of an opposing request to create the one-way. The benefit for clients is that they wouldn't have to pay for an aircraft to reposition to base. ACP Jets has been the leader in air charter one-way opportunities for the past seven years, providing the one-ways for many of our competitors in wholesale transactions. With our state-of-the-art fleet tracking coupled with our large volume of flights we can secure these one-ways for you more often. Under our Endeavour program these one-ways are guaranteed.
What is the difference between an average charter rate per hour and an occupied charter rate?
Typically all aircraft have a rate per hour assigned to them. This rate is applied whenever the aircraft moves. The average rate per hour doesn't include repositioning time or any extra fees for the aircraft which would be added .An occupied rate per hour is the rate from a passenger's point of view of only when they are on-board the aircraft and generally is all inclusive.
What is the difference between ad-hoc chartering and becoming an Endeavor program member?
The Endeavor program is setup for those clients that predominately require occupied hourly pricing on a regular basis. Although ad-hoc one-ways can often appear more cost effective, they are not guaranteed and are subject to availability at the time. Furthermore, by becoming an Endeavor member you get guaranteed occupied hourly pricing and security.
What are daily flight minimums and how do they apply to my flights?
All aircraft require a two hour daily minimum. If your flight is less than 2 hours you will generally be charged for the full 2 hours. This concept applies to trips with a longer length of stay (i.e. NY to FL is about 2.5 hrs of flying). If you plan on staying for longer than three days it doesn't make sense to pay the minimum hours. ACP Jets can bypass this minimum flight requirement by utilizing two one-ways to cover your trip. This will also save you money as you are then only paying for occupied time.
How much lead time is required to arrange an aircraft?
Generally for all flights within the domestic US we can arrange your flight within 8 hours of your departure. For International flights, it depends on your destination (certain countries require applications for permits etc). For one-way travel, you would get the best ad-hoc pricing with at least 48 hours notice. The more advanced notice, the better priced your trip will be.
What Documents are required for international travel?
For all international trips we require passport numbers, date of birth, citizenship and expiration dates 24 hours prior to take-off as per TSA 12-5 ruling requirements. It is also client responsibility to obtain Visas for countries they are traveling to, if so required.
What are the taxes involved in chartering an aircraft?
For travel within the domestic US and 200 miles into the borders of Canada and Mexico to include Hawaii and Alaska, there is a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax on the flight related charges of your charter. There is also a per person per landing US segment fee of $3.50. For International flights in and out of the US there is an arrival and departure customs fee of $15.10 per person.
